Len Price

In 1984 Len joined Beenleigh Little Athletics Centre with his 3 boys, which was the start of his journey down the path of Little Athletics.

He was Centre Manager for seven years, Assistant Centre Manager for two years, Secretary for two years and held the positions of Treasurer, Coaching Coordinator, Fundraising and Public Relations Officer.

Beenleigh awarded Len with Life Membership in 1992.

His involvement within the Zone and Region saw Len hold the position of Zone Coordinator for five years, then Secretary, Treasurer, Competition Coordinator and Announcer at all Regional events. Len was presented with an appreciation plaque from the South Coast Zone for his contribution to the Region.

In 2006, Len was voted to the LAQ Board as a General Director and served on the Board for two years. In 2007 he was appointed as the Chair of the Competition Committee, a position he held for a couple of years. During this time, he lead the working group to evaluate and revise the LAQ competition programs. Len worked on LAQ committees and was a Centre Officials and Administration Course presenter, State Team Selector and LAQ Coaching Camp Manager.

LAQ awarded Len with a Merit Award in 1990, Distinguished Merit Award in 2004, and Life Membership in 2015. He was also presented with an Australia Day Award in 2007.

During Len’s time with LAQ, he ably assisted the Development Director in the startup of new Centres in St George, Dirranbandi, Pittsworth, Byron Bay, Kyogle, Mudgeeraba, Mullumbimby and Tamborine.

Len has been the announcer at LAQ carnivals and championships for 27 years, finally hanging up the microphone in 2024.

Recent health issues have seen Len withdraw from his involvement with Little Athletics, but he continues his interest in the sport via media outlets.
