Little Athletics Australia provides an exciting opportunity for athletes in the Under 15 age group with the National U15 Camp.
This is a live in elite camp and is a great opportunity to improve athletic skills by providing elite coaching and active participation in athletics. Being held at the Gold Coast Performance Centre, Runaway Bay means athletes can take full advantage of the world class facilities on offer. Each day will consist of coaching sessions to enhance performance in chosen events and improve general fitness. Workshops will be held on various topics such as strength and conditioning and stretching and there will also be guest appearances by senior elite athletes.
The aim of the camp is to develop and support young athletes who are showing a commitment to the sport and have reached national standard. Not only will athletes receive expert advice from some of the very best coaches from around Australia, it will be a fun and exciting time, and a chance for athletes to make new friends from all over the country.
The camp is open to selected athletes in the U15 age group in the 2021 / 2022 Little Athletics season, who have met a qualifying standard set by Little Athletics Australia.
Combined Event Athletes
Combined Event athletes from each State will be nominated based on their placing at the Combined Event Championships as an U14 athlete.
Multi Class Athletes
In 2021, Multi Class athletes will be invited to nominate for camp selection. LAA will consider nominations from the Under 13 to Under 15 age groups inclusive. A nomination form needs to be completed and returned to LAQ by the 21st of May. A copy of the nomination form can be found by clicking here.
Multi class athletes need to be registered with a Little Athletics Centre for the 2021 / 2022 season prior to the camp. They need to be either formally classified by a recognised organisation prior to being considered for the camp OR in the process of seeking classification to the satisfaction of LAA PRIOR to the camp.
Athletes with the following classifications are eligible to nominate for the camp:
• T/F 01 – Hearing Impairment
• T/F 11-13 – Visual Impairment
• T/F 20 – Intellectual Impairment
• T31-54 & 61-64; F31-57 & 61-64 – Physical Impairment
• T/F 60 – Transplant Athletes
Ideally, Multi Class athletes will have competed at their Regional or State Championships in the year prior to camp. This will be subject to exemption in the case of injury, exceptional circumstances that meant they weren’t able to compete or the events in which the athlete is considered to have potential were not offered at Regional or State Championships.
It is worth noting that the selection of ALL athletes will be at the discretion of Little Athletics Australia and LAQ has no involvement or input into the selection of athletes from our State.
