In 1979 Ken became a member of Redcliffe Little Athletics, registering all five of his children at the Centre. This began his long and dedicated involvement in our sport.

During his time at Redcliffe Little Athletics, he accepted the role of Centre Manager and continued in this role for several seasons. He also developed in the role as the Centre’s coach and was proficient at coaching all athletics disciplines.

After Ken’s time at Redcliffe Little Athletics, he was involved with Deception Bay and Aspley Little Athletics Centres. During his time at all three Centres, Ken was very much involved as a parent helper officiating at events that were conducted during the Centres meets.

Ken’s coaching experience led him to accept roles as LAQ State Team Manager and the Interstate Teams Championships (now known as ALAC’s) convener.

In 1990, Ken was appointed to the Little Athletics Queensland Board of Management as Treasurer before being appointed Secretary/Treasurer for the Little Athletics Australia Board of Management. During his tenure on the Little Athletics Queensland and Little Athletics Australia Boards of Management, Ken assisted George Harvey and Don Yourell to shape the future of both organisations. They were aptly known as the three amigos.

In 1991, Ken received the accolade of Life Membership with Little Athletics Queensland for his years of service and dedication to the sport.

Ken, along with his wife Jenny, is still a regular attendee and observer at our LAQ conferences and State Championship events.
