Upcoming Online Workshops Hosted by LAQ

Join us for a series of engaging online workshops running from July to December. Designed specifically for Centres and their committees, these 1-hour sessions will help you with planning, development, and structure of your Centre. Starting on Wednesday, 31st July, the workshops will be held every other Wednesday evening at 7pm.

Wednesday 31st July – Results HQ for Registrations
Presenter: Chris Hazeldine, Timing Solutions (Head of Sales & Product Owner)
This workshop targets Centre Registrars or those within your Centre Committee who look after the registration of athletes.

Wednesday 21st August – Marketing Your Centre
Presenter: Renee Sandilands, LAQ Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Join this workshop to discover how to leverage the excitement of the Olympics and market your Centre online effectively! We’ll dive into your Personalized Centre Dreamjar kit, offering tips and tricks to maximize your creative assets, including scheduling posts and stories, along with a brief introduction to Canva basics.

Wednesday 28th August – LAQ’s New Discipline Process
Presenter: Christopher Davis, LAQ CEO
This workshop takes Centre Committees through LAQ’s new discipline process to help manage the complaints process at Centre level.

This workshop is targeted to those on Centre Committees that are responsible for programming and event scheduling. It will look at how to set your weekly programs to suit your Centre’s needs and growing numbers.

Wednesday 25th September – How to Modify Events at Centres for Athletes with a Disability
Presenter: Christine McCoombes, LAA Inclusion Project Coordinator
This workshop will share practical strategies on how events can be modified so athletes can participate in every event, including how to:

Foster an inclusive culture that promotes participation and belonging
Modify events to include athletes with disability
Provide appropriate support and equipment for athletes with disability
Create meaningful and memorable experiences for all athletes

Wednesday 2nd October – Relay Team Formations
Presenter: Karen Lunt, LAQ Competition Manager
This workshop is targeted to those within your Centre or Committee who will be putting together Relay teams for the upcoming Regional Relays. The workshop will discuss rules relating to team structure, how to create teams, how to aim for high participation, what your Centre needs to know at the competition (rules, substitutions, composite teams) and well as post competition procedures.

Wednesday 23rd October – Incorporating Skill Development Into Your Centre
Presenter: Shaun Lethem, LAQ Senior Development Officer
During this workshop, you’ll learn strategies to enhance member engagement and foster personal growth within your Centre. Discover practical tools and resources to integrate skill activities into your Centre’s activities. Whether you’re a committee member, age manager, tiny tot coordinator, or interested parent, this workshop will provide the insights you need to elevate the athletes experience at your Centre.

Growth can only fuel a company for so long, but retention is essential for an organisation to thrive. Therefore, Athlete Retention isn’t just a key priority, it’s one of the most impactful things your centre can deliver to ensure long term sustainability. Join this workshop to discuss tips and impacting factors relating to Athlete Retention.

Wednesday 20th November – How to make your Little Athletics Centre more inclusive for athletes and adults 
Presenter: Christine McCoombes, LAA Inclusion Project Coordinator
This workshop will equip volunteers with the knowledge and tools to make their Centre more inclusive for athletes (and adults) with additional needs. We will share insights on what it takes to foster a Whole-of-Centre approach to inclusion.

Wednesday 4th December – Results HQ for Centre Competitions

Presenter: Chris Hazeldine, Timing Solutions (Head of Sales & Product Owner)
This workshop will look at results recording tools and setting up and managing programs in Results HQ and targets both new and experienced users. To make this session more user friendly, we ask participants to submit any specific questions they may have prior to the session so we can target these key areas.
