Final Week to Nominate for McDonald’s Combined Event Champs!

There is just one week remaining for athletes to secure their place in the upcoming McDonald’s Combined Event Championships and Race Walking Hit Out at SAF in QSAC, with nominations closing Monday 19 January at 11:59pm.

Taking place on 31 January and 1 February, the event provides an exciting development opportunity for U9–U17 athletes, allowing competitors to test their skills across multiple disciplines while building confidence, versatility and competition experience. The Combined Events format encourages athletes to challenge themselves in a variety of run, jump and throw events, while the standalone Race Walking Hit Out offers a valuable chance to experience and refine race walking technique in a supportive competition environment.

The Championships continue to be a popular fixture on the Little Athletics Queensland calendar, attracting athletes eager to broaden their skill sets, set personal goals and enjoy a high-energy competition atmosphere alongside teammates and friends.

U7 & U8 Development Session

While the Championships are underway, U7 and U8 athletes are also invited to take part in a dedicated Development Session delivered by LAQ’s experienced staff.

The session features a fun and engaging 50-minute program, made up of three 15-minute rotations focusing on the fundamentals of Run, Jump and Throw. Designed to support early skill development, the session helps young athletes build confidence, coordination and a love for movement in a positive and encouraging environment.
