Disaster Recovery Support

This Disaster Recovery Support Hub connects Centre’s impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred with assistance from the wider athletics community.

If your Centre has been affected, we encourage you to use the available information below to seek help from the community as you begin your clean-up efforts. This page will also be updated with the latest information on government funding and grants available to support recovery efforts.

NOTE: If your Centre has been impacted, please email us as soon as you’re able so we can understand your situation and provide assistance where possible. Whether you need help connecting with volunteers for clean-up efforts, accessing funding opportunities, or navigating the recovery process, we are here to support you. Even if you’re unsure what assistance is available, reaching out will allow us to guide you in the right direction.

Support for Committee Members

We understand that many of our dedicated Committee members and their families may also be personally affected and could be without power or other essential services. Please reach out to us when you’re able—we’re here to help.

Mental Health Support

Our partner at White Cloud Foundation are committed to connecting people with mental health support, no matter where a person lives. White Cloud’s free Tele-Mental Health Service offers expert care via phone or video call—no GP referral, no waiting, no need to travel. If you or someone you know is struggling, don’t hesitate to reach out to White Cloud on 07 3155 3456. A little support could make all the difference.

Insurance

Unfortunately, the Little Athletics Australia National insurance policy does not cover property damage caused by cyclonic events. We are seeking further clarification on the specifics of this.

In the interim if you have any questions about your Centre’s insurance policy, please feel free to reach out to sport@gowgates.com.au
