Strategic Plan

On Track for Tomorrow
Strategic Plan 2025 – 2027

Little Athletics has operated in Queensland since 1973 and is now entering one of the most exciting periods in our history. Building off record participation levels in the 2024/25 season, daily media interest in elite athletics, and with just 7 years until we host an Olympic and Paralympic Games on home ground, developing a clear vision and plan for the future is essential.

Little Athletics Queensland has 86 affiliated clubs (sometimes called centres) with an annual participation of over 17,000 children, 15,300 of whom are registered athletes with their local club. Participation is truly equal between boys and girls, and well-supported by an estimated 10,000 volunteers made up of parents, grandparents and lovers of the sport of Little Athletics.

Our strategic plan was built ground-up from our stakeholders and is designed as a plan for the whole sport of Little Athletics in Queensland, not just a plan for our governing body, Little Athletics Queensland. Focussed around 5 key priorities – growing our membership, educating our people, sustainability of our clubs, increasing our volunteer numbers and improving our competitions – this plan will provide a clear vision to support decision making and ensure our sport continues to thrive in the next 3 years, into the next decade, and for another 50 years to come.
