Little Athletics Queensland is pleased to announce that the 2027 McDonald’s Little Athletics State Championships will be held in Townsville from 19–21 March 2027.

With the valued support of Townsville City Council, the Championships will return to North Queensland after a successful event in 2023. The decision reinforces Little Athletics Queensland’s commitment to delivering major events across all regions of the state.

Hosting the Championships in Townsville provides an important opportunity to showcase the very best of Queensland while reducing travel demands for many regional athletes and families.

Little Athletics Queensland CEO Christopher Davis said the organisation was excited to once again bring its premier event to North Queensland.

“We are thrilled to confirm Townsville as the host city for the 2027 McDonald’s Little Athletics State Championships. The support from Townsville City Council has been instrumental in making this possible, and we look forward to delivering an outstanding event experience for our athletes, families and volunteers.”

The McDonald’s Little Athletics State Championships is the pinnacle event on the LAQ calendar, bringing together athletes from across Queensland to compete for state titles and celebrate personal best performances.

Little Athletics Queensland also acknowledges the support of Sports Marketing Australia in helping secure the event.
