Our FREE, hands-on Introduction to Officiating Workshop (IOW) is your chance to gain the skills to keep events fun, fair, and flowing – all while helping young athletes reach their goals.
Perfect for:
- Parents & volunteers
- Athletes aged 14+
An IOW runs for 2.5 hours & is ideal for parents / guardians or athletes looking for a solid introduction to officiating (helping) at Centre meets or Regional competitions.
It is also the first step in your LAQ accreditation pathway. Those that complete an IOW will gain Entry Level accreditation for any module completed. Modules include Jumps, Throws and Track.

D Level Course
For any participants that completes an Introduction to Officiating Workshop (E-Level accreditation), you next step in the LAQ officiating pathway is a D-Level accreditation.
This accreditation is for Event Level Officiating & refers to officiating at LAQ run carnivals.
During this process participants are mentored by senior officials at LAQ carnivals and assessed on the following modules.
- Jumps - High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump
- Throws – Discus, Shot Put, Javelin
- Javelin Track – Nominated track events
